Personal Development Skills training and improvement

Every month, Findcourses.co.uk ask its users a topical question related to the training industry. Throughout 2012, findcourses.co.uk recorded steadily increasing demand for personal development training. As an area of training, personal development is universally applicable and in September the findcourses.co.uk question of the month was aimed at discovering which personal development skills were most sought after. The five optional responses were centered on the most popular personal development skills: Time Management, Delegation Skills, Organisational Skills, Public Speaking and Basic IT skills.

Taking the clear majority of the votes with 56% was Time Management, a perhaps not unsurprising result given the increased demands that are often placed on employees as resources are stretched during a time of economic uncertainty. Time management skills equip delegates with the knowledge of how to create a balanced work and personal life for better effectiveness and better results in both, resulting in lower stress and increased productivity. Findcourses.co.uk lists a range of time management training courses available for individuals from as little as £25 and there are excellent training providers who can deliver time management training in house to improve the performance of whole teams, departments or companies.

A somewhat more surprising  result for 2012, in second place was basic IT skills. It appears that more than thirty years after the first Personal Computers were introduced into the workplace, 17% of workers still feel that their basic IT skills are lacking. One answer for this could be that although the vast majority of office workers in the UK can navigate the basic Microsoft packages, being able to utilise the full potential of the programmes remains elusive. For those looking to increase their skills and confidence in this area, Findcourses.co.uk lists over 100 user-based IT courses at beginner and intermediate level in programmes such as excel, powerpoint and word.

Public Speaking was the next most sought after with 11% of the votes and organisation and delegation skills following up with 9% and 7% respectively.

Throughout October Findcourses.co.uk will be exploring the different funding options available for training. Users are invited to take part at findcourses.co.uk
